Review on the Phase Change Materials in Wood for Thermal Regulative Wood-Based Products

نویسندگان

چکیده

Wood is an excellent building material or component that has been used all over the world. The rise in energy consumption worldwide, particularly sector, led to development of diverse methods overcome this problem. Embedding phase change material, PCM, into wood researched as one most effective alternatives controlling thermal loads wood, it can store and release latent heat at a specific temperature range. Due increasing interest, article reviews PCM including some research on recent efforts made by other researchers regarding topic. This also provides insight problems associated with wood-based products incorporated PCM. From three groups namely organic, inorganic, eutectic mixture, organic mixture were commonly chosen successfully impregnated structure. Carbonization delignification help increase stabilization wood. Adding sometimes decreases its strength, thus balancing between regulative performance industrial requirements needed fabricate fully functional thermal-regulative

Properties of Wood and Wood Based Materials Subjected to Thermal Treatments under Various Conditions

Thermal modification is a well-known process to change the dimensional stability, hygroscopicity, and biological resistance of wood due to chemical modifications of wood cell components. In this study, we reviewed several characteristics of heat-modified solid wood and wood-based panels under various temperatures, durations and pressure. Thermal compressing treatment could affect drying speed, ...

Ignition of Wood-based Materials by Thermal Radiation

Ignition is the initial stage of burning the materials. Consequent flame spread over the materials, heat release rate, fire spread across the rooms, and other issues for building fires all depend on that. Ignition of cellulose materials is commonly classified as smoldering or glowing ignition (self-heating ignition) and flaming ignition including piloted and spontaneous ignition. Numerous studi...

Properties of Wood and Structural Wood Products

Wood differs from other construction materials because it is produced in a living tree. As a result, wood possesses material properties that may be significantly different from other materials normally encountered in structural design. Although it is not necessary to have an in-depth knowl edge of wood anatomy and properties, it is necessary for the engineer to have a general understanding of ...

Acetylation of wood – A review

Wood is a porous three dimensional, hydroscopic, viscoelastic, anisotropic bio-polymer composite composed of an interconnecting matrix of cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin with minor amounts of inorganic elements and organic extractives. Some, but not all, of the cell wall polymer hydroxyl groups are accessible to moisture and these accessible hydroxyls form hydrogen bonds with water. As the...

Life-cycle Analysis of Wood Products: Cradle-to-gate Lci of Residential Wood Building Materials

This study compares the cradle-to-gate total energy and major emissions for the extraction of raw materials, production, and transportation of the common wood building materials from the CORRIM 2004 reports. A life-cycle inventory produced the raw materials, including fuel resources and emission to air, water, and land for glued-laminated timbers, kiln-dried and green softwood lumber, laminated...
